We’re Barry and Laura, and we’re adventure addicts.
We love to travel, to see and experience new cultures and of course sample the local delicacies on offer from guinea pig to sashimi and everything in between! Oh and to sample the local beers as well, it would be rude not too. Right now we’re on an adventure around the world, with no firm end point in mind. We go where we want, when we want, and love to take photos and write about our adventures. Thus the Worldly Nomads was born! We’re writing this blog for posterity, as a place for us to organise and share our memories, but also a resource for others who pine for adventure and travel.

Practice makes perfect as they say, and so far we’ve travelled to over 30 countries. Before embarking on our latest adventure, we tested out our backpacking skills on a couple of smaller trips to see how we fared.
Our first big trip together was in 2005, when we spent two months backpacking around Asia. It was our first trip together, and we loved it! We experienced China pre Olympics, spending time in Shanghai, Beijing and Xian, with our highlights including climbing to the Great Wall of China, visiting the Forbidden City in Beijing and the Terracotta Warriors in Xian.
We also visited the relative home comforts of Hong Kong, before jetting off to Bali, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

After a few years of knuckling down and pursuing our careers, we got the itch again and booked a trip to Peru. Peru was incredible, one of our favourite places, and a place we will return to again this year on our trip!
After a fantastic new cultural experience in Peru, we experienced culture shock in North America as we went from camping and trekking in Peru for the Neon lights of Las Vegas. Quite a shock, but luckily a few days in San Francisco before Vegas integrated us into North America.
And so here we are, living our dream of seeing the world. You can follow us by subscribing to the blog (in the right sidebar), ‘like’ us on facebook at www.facebook.com/worldlynomads or follow us on twitter @worldlynomads
We look forward to sharing our experiences with you!
